I am currently working on scanning some really cool chromolithographic fairytale images. We hope to put these up as a digital collection in the UB Libraries. These images are from 1880.

Redesign of befriend.org

I’ve been working on a new design for befriend.org for awhile now. I think I finally have it the way I want it. The client likes the direction so far, but they just might have some small changes.

I plan to have this site built with WordPress, HTML5, CSS3 and be responsive. This will be my first responsive site and will be good practice for when I have to redesign library.buffalo.edu this summer. That site will also need to be responsive.

I hope to have the site up and running in the next few months.

So I have been renovating my attic for about 2 years now. I have been making slow progress with the laundry room and the 1/2 bath. I am hoping to be done with everything by the end of this year.

Some wall decorating in the UB Libraries

Over the holiday break I did some decorating in the University Libraries. I hung some Bison Cover art posters and James Joyce Exhibition posters in the University at Buffalo Silverman Library. I also hung the James Joyce timeline in Lockwood Library.

Louisa May Alcott Poster

Just finished up a quick 11″ x 17″ poster for a Louisa May Alcott discussion at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society. This design is meant to look similar to the main poster I did a couple months ago. The hospital image was taken from a book we have here in the Poetry Collection at the University at Buffalo Libraries.

How To Remove/Block Facebook Ads in Safari

I was playing around with the idea of hiding the ads on my facebook page and did a quick google search to find out the CSS styles. I figured you could use the user stylesheet to hide them. All the results I got on Google didn’t seem to work. So I used the Safari Web Inspector to find the CSS class that was showing the ads and sponsored content.

Create a usercontent.css using TextEdit or NotePad
Add .ego_column { display: none !important; } to the stylesheet
Save the stylesheet in your documents folder
Go to Safari Preferences
Advanced section
Select usercontent.css

It seems to work fine for me, seemed almost to easy. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Opera should all have the ability to add a user stylesheet. This is only for Safari.

Bison Cover Art Posters for the UB Silverman Library

I did this as a mockup for where we will be putting posters of the Bison Covers. The Bison Covers are one of our digital collections. These are 24″ x 36″ reproductions of the covers. We will also be selling these in our soon to be launched Library Store.
